Moonwatcher

Moonwatcher is the moniker of Allan Day, a musician and event coordinator based in Louisville, KY. His music incorporates unconventionally-played instruments and loop technology to craft full songs and soundscapes. This process is used to sonically render feelings, experiences, and esoteric concepts, translating the untranslatable into aural manifestation.

The cornerstone of the Moonwatcher project is the importance of art and creativity as forms of community bonding and expression. Aside from playing with sounds and making music, Moonwatcher loves to create and curate community-based events with as few barriers (financial, age, etc.) as possible. He believes that creative expression is sacred and loves to help people find new ways and platforms to both share their own and to experience others’ offerings.

Vocal Play Workshop
This workshop is to present various forms of vocal play to anyone who loves to use their voice, regardless of singing ability. I will share some of my own story before we all warm up together, loosening our vocal cords and trying out group dynamics with a tuning meditation and a harmonizing exercise. I will talk about the incorporation of vocal play into my broader music projects, give a demonstration, and have people provide special accompaniment to a song. We will then use loop technology to create our own big and dynamic group vocal experiment and allow people space to play with the concepts we have been practicing.
